“The Haven is about getting a relationship with God.”  —Jonathan

Thanks to your help in providing a path to redemption and restoration!

“I grew up in a functioning but dysfunctional family,” Jonathan says. “Meaning, they all had good jobs and went to work—but every day was a party: at the age of seven, I was introduced to marijuana and beer. By my parents.”

That burden was far too much for him to overcome.

“It led me into other substances,” he shakes his head. “I didn’t know how to live—my life was a lot of chaos. And I’m sorry.”

Jonathan felt there must be a way out. And that exit from his broken life was through the Lord. “When I almost died,” he says, “I learned that, when all you have left is God, then that’s all you need.

And The Haven provided Jonathan, like so many others, with God’s path to restoration through biblical hope and healing. At the same time—thanks to hearts like yours—we’re able to meet basic physical necessities with wholesome meals, cool water in the summer heat, and a safe environment for starting over.

“What I’ve learned here at The Haven is about getting a relationship with God,” says Jonathan—and showing what that means to other people.

In fact, “Psalm 40:1-3,” he smiles, “are pretty much my life’s verses.”

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;

he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.

Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.”

Thanks for making that possible through your gifts and prayers to reach hundreds of hurting souls like Jonathan’s this summer—and in the days ahead!
